The Personal Survival Training is a specialised course designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to stay safe when boating, fishing, or adventuring.
This course ensures compliance with industry standards and enhances safety by preparing participants to respond effectively to emergency situations.
Course Description:
The course focuses on understanding the key risks and responses when participating in any activity involving bodies of water, including risk identification, immediate actions, and emergency procedures. Through a combination of theory and practical exercises, participants will gain confidence and knowledge on how to keep themselves safe. Through simulated emergency scenarios, ensuring readiness for real-world situations if unexpected emergency events occur.
Learning Outcomes
Introduction and overview risks when around bodies of water
Introduction to care and safe use of emergency survival equipment
Use of inflatable lifejackets, PLBs and flares in the event of an emergency
Review prior incidents and leaning outcomes
Practical exercises on survival actions to take in an emergency
Key Topics Covered
Identifying key weather and environmental risks
Highlighting recommended safety equipment and use
Evaluating actions to take
Emergency deployment techniques in a controlled environment

Be medically and physically fit to attend.
Who should Attend
This training is strongly recommended for all boaties, land-based fisherman, and all those who like an adventure near the water. Whether you head out on your own often, or frequently joined by others, this training will ensure you have the skills and understanding to keep yourself and those around you safe.
Location: 96 Kerwyn Ave, East Tamaki, Auckland
Parking: Unfortunately there is not parking available onsite however, there’s plenty of parking available on the street.
Medical screening: Course participants must complete a medical screening form prior to the course and seek medical advice if affected by any of the conditions listed.
Course includes:
All PPE & equipment – water shoes, water helmet, overalls, lifejacket & CA-EBS.
You are welcome to bring your own CA-EBS for personal familiarity if you prefer.
Please bring:
Your own swimming clothes, comfortable to wear under overalls or if you prefer, swim shorts and t/rash shirt to be worn without donning overalls.
A towel and bag for your wet clothes.
